James is an empathetic, skilled therapist who works with children, teens, families, couples, and individuals. Much of his work has been assisting clients who experience behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, or other stressful events causing difficulties at work, home, school, or in relationships.
His approach is person-centered, using concepts that assist individuals in developing self-awareness of unhelpful attitudes and behaviors which block growth. He uses cognitive behavioral techniques to work collaboratively with clients in developing behavioral strategies that may bring about change. James has advanced training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for youth, adults, and couples. James is also a Gottman Level 3 Couples Therapist and applies the research-driven interventions with couples and families.
James has worked in a multitude of settings in rural and urban cities, including community mental health, outpatient mental health, a hospital, and private practice. His roles in each of these settings allows him to meet the client where they are at and pivot in session dependent on the client’s needs. James offers a non-judgmental and comfortable environment where clients can feel seen and heard.
